Rules of accreditation of professional medical associations are discussed in Astana

At the beginning of May, the Center for Accreditation of the Republican Center for Health Development of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a videoconference on the "Rules for the Accreditation of Professional Medical Associations. Methodical and consultative support for preparation for accreditation", for 83 representatives of professional medical associations and the association of legal entities of the country.

Accreditation of professional medical associations (hereinafter - PMA) in Kazakhstan is conducted for the first time, the purpose of which is to assess the activities of the PMA for compliance with the established criteria for the selection and further transfer of certain functions of the state body to them.

Accreditation of professional medical associations is a voluntary procedure conducted by the Joint Commission on Quality of Medical Services of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The role of PMA is to develop a quality management system for medical services, to participate in the improvement of medical and pharmaceutical education programs and to implement reforms in the field of nursing with the active involvement of non-governmental and professional organizations.

The accredited PMA has the following rights: the preferential right to develop, review, opinion work on the diagnostic and treatment protocols in the relevant field; the right to participate in the improvement of medical and pharmaceutical education programs, including participation in the development and implementation of standardized certification courses for each specialty and level of qualification in accordance with professional standards and through the introduction of international approaches; the priority right in the implementation of health care reforms in the relevant field or profession.

"With the help of accreditation of professional medical associations, we will be able to improve the capacity of the association's representatives, develop and revise examination questions for assessing knowledge and skills, treatment protocols, professional and educational standards, and we will be able to provide professional protection for the members of the PMA," noted the head of the accreditation center of the RCHD Botagoz Kaupbaeva.

During the event, issues of document preparation and the procedure for accreditation of PMA, involvement of PMA in the development and revision of clinical protocols, etc. were discussed.

Following the results of the conference, the participants were awarded certificates.
